5 Tips: How to interact and work well on a local level

Soaring Worldwide is based in the beautiful town of Cirencester and, as well as national and international clients we work with plenty of local businesses too. Having a presence and an impact in the surrounding area is key to our growth as a business and there are many ways you can do this. Here are our 5 tips on how to make an impact locally!

1. Knowledge & Research Our Business Development Manager, Stewart, is a firm believer in having strong business knowledge of the local area. By doing your research and keeping on top of the latest happenings you can be at the forefront of the market. This will have real benefits when it comes to new business opportunities, upcoming events and a show of knowledge can have positive effects when you get into those important conversations at events or when networking.

2. Networking Networking events can be integral to creating and growing working relationships with other local businesses around your local area. Soaring Worldwide attend these sessions across Gloucestershire and Bristol but it’s not just about the prospect of new business. Often these sessions can help educate and improve our knowledge of the area. By building relationships at these networking events you can open new doors and, of course, bacon butties at the breakfast sessions are always welcome!

3. Being Socially Active It’s perhaps difficult to think of a world without the growing impact of social media and the effect it is having on all of us. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn – they have taken over and they are here to stay so businesses are using these channels to help promote and market their wares and services. We are no different and if you are looking to interact and spread your message then there is no better way. Interact with other businesses, your clients and customers and the surrounding area so you can reap the benefits in the long term. If you have something exciting to say then why not shout about it?

4. Event Attendance Whatever market you are in, there will always be some event, large or small, which you can attend to help boost your own profile and make new connections. For example, Stewart will be attending the Swindon Business Show later this month and will no doubt come away having had some good conversations and having learnt plenty about what is going on in the surrounding business community. By being seen at these shows you are already boosting your own profile and you may even strike some new business along the way. Big events are great learning tools as well so make sure you go with an open mind and an eagerness to meet new people.

5. Don’t hide away! It’s important to be active online but don’t forget that there is probably no better way to do business than face-to-face. Like we have already mentioned, networking and event attendance can do you wonders when building new relationships and new business but don’t stop there. If you are working with a local client then it’s important that you are accessible and prepared to meet. We don’t know about you but we can get so much more done when we meet our clients face-to-face and of course it’s a great way to build working relationships.
