After a year of growth across international markets, Kyoto Convention Bureau has employed Rie Oda to join their marketing team.
Kyoto Convention Bureau’s James Kent: “2010 has been a really positive year for our business growth. Through an overseas PR campaign, targeted FAMs and closer connections with our membership we have won significant business for Kyoto. To support and maintain this ongoing development across the corporate meeting, association and incentive markets it was vital we expand our team.”
This new appointment and commercial success has been helped by a countrywide campaign to promote Japan to international business tourists and meeting planners. Called Japan MICE Year 2010, this push has seen substantial inward investment and marketing development across the entire sector through a variety of marketing media such as trade shows and online.
Kent continues: “Rie Oda joined the team to bring more support services online and make the city yet more attractive to meeting professionals. As the reactions of participants in a recent fam trip commented, Kyoto provides the very best facilities for incentive and congress organisers, coupled with the highest levels of service. With Rie on the team we can communicate this message more effectively to a wider audience and offer even more expert assistance during the planning and operation of events.”
KCB’s newest team member, Rie Oda: “I applied for this job because of my love for the city. I first moved to Kyoto for university and the more I lived here the more I grew to enjoy everything it has to offer. Now I have an opportunity to share these wonders and I am truly excited at the challenges ahead. In particular, I cherish the combination of past and present here, the abundance of historical buildings, temples and shrines is juxtaposed by the cutting edge technology and home grown-companies generating solutions for challenges throughout the world.”
To completely immerse herself in the role and truly understand the city, Rie has also invested in a variety of classes focused on the city and its local culture – ensuring she is able to offer the industry a true understanding of everything Kyoto has to offer.
