Harrogate’s HIC – the home of medical events

Harrogate, and in particular the Harrogate International Centre is achieving worldwide renown as the ideal destination for events in the medical sector.

The Harrogate International Centre has increasingly become a popular destination with a number of high profile medical conferences taking place at the centre in 2010.

Alison Griffin, head of sales and marketing at Harrogate said: “We were pleased to see the growing number of medical and health related conferences taking place. Events within the health sector are complex to organise, involving a number of issues that need careful attention – particularly around security, sensitivity and discretion.  HIC provides the flexibility and space needed for such conferences, and our dedicated staff are well trained to co-ordinate these types of events.”

Some of the healthcare sector events that took place at HIC in 2010 included: •    European Academy for Paediatric Dentistry – brings delegates together from over 20 countries •    Wounds UK – hosted a gala dinner for all 1300 of their conference delegates •    Association of Perioperative Practice – which will return in 2014 for their 50th Anniversary event •    Association of Anaesthetists – with former paralympics athlete Tanni Gray Thompson a keynote speaker

Vi Guyan, operations

director, Wounds UK said: “The conference in 2010 was the best ever for Wounds UK. As usual HIC staff were at their best. They carry out their business in a professional manner and are always ready to help solve any problems we may have. All members of the HIC staff are very willing to assist Wounds UK and no task is a problem for them. All this is done in a friendly manner which helps a lot when everyone is busy.”

Alison concludes: “As the venue continues to grow through the launch of our new halls we are already seeing interest from additional medical sector events and associations.  For many Harrogate is the ideal location, a perfect blend of convenience, easy access and the highest possible service levels.”
