The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) has been awarded HMRC status which approves membership fees as tax-deductible when joining the association.
By achieving HMRC status, ABPCO has been recognised as a professional organisation that benefits its members using education and best practice opportunities. According to HMRC EIM32900, the costs of membership are tax-deductible if ‘the activities of the body are of direct benefit to, or concern the profession practiced in, the performance of the duties of the employment.’
“HMRC status further enhances ABPCO as a professional organisation focussed on benefiting its members,” comments Jennifer Jenkins, current chair of ABPCO. “The Government recognises that what we are doing has a real impact on the industry and the tax-deductible nature of membership will help us to deliver an even stronger service for our members.
“Many industry professionals will only work with organisations if they are on HMRC’s approved list. The status helps us to continue building the ABPCO brand and it does that by proving the professionalism of the entire organisation.”
The status was given to ABPCO following a process in which the organisation provided paperwork such as accounts and business plans to prove its dedication to helping both members and the industry grow professionally.
ABPCO is the UK’s leading organisation for professional conference and event organisers, industry associates and those studying for, or seeking a career in the conference and meetings industry. For more information about ABPCO visit www.abpco.org
