Kyoto CVB Member – Hotel Granvia Launches “Ninja for a Day” Experience

“For years, The rest of the world has read and seen stories of Japan’s famous Samurai and Ninja; now groups can spend a day in character as a traditional Japanese Ninja or Samurai Warrior.”  Kyoto CVB, international marketing manager, James Kent.

Hotel Granvia Kyoto is offering groups the opportunity to take part in Cosplay where they can experience a day as a Ninja.  Cosplay is the rapidly growing colourful Japanese pastime of Costume Play and re-enactment.

Highlights of the event include:

  1. Full traditional Japanese Ninja dress including hood, foot wear and replica weapons

  2. A visit to Kyoto’s Samurai Movie Studios where they are likely to experience real Samurai movie in production

  3. Excursions to various Kyoto sights including: The Grand Nijo Castle once residence of the Tokugawa Shogun

  4. Dinner at Kyoto’s Ninja themed restaurant which has a Ninja labyrinth and Ninja shop

Kyoto Convention Bureau’s James Kent: “In addition to the physical experience as a Ninja, the guest will receive a portfolio of images as a record of their day as well as their own costume to take home – a truly memorable experience of our ancient and historic city.”

Hotel Granvia Kyoto can also arrange for guests to rent more elaborate costumes such as a Shogun, Princess or Geisha  from the Movie studios and have hair and makeup done by on set professionals.

Hotel Granvia Kyoto will arrange everything including the costumes, private transportation, English speaking guide, professional photographer, all excursions, food and beverages.”

Kyoto Convention Bureau and the Hotel Granvia will be exhibiting at IMEX, Frankfurt from 25-27 May, 2010 on stand B420.
