Hotel Granvia takes further steps to recognise the importance of
culture in business.
The Hotel Granvia in Kyoto is enhancing the experience delegates receive from meetings and conferences by displaying a traditionally decorated Jet Ski in the lobby. The addition of the Jet Ski is to remind delegates about the history and heritage of Kyoto and to add to the delegate’s time in the city.
The Yamaha Royal Wave Runner provided by GK Kyoto was decorated by craftsmen using ancient artistic methods used on traditional pieces. The body and hull were painted with black lacquer with a cherry blossom design depicted in mother of pearl and gold dust was used to show the spray as the machine cuts through waves. The area around the side and mirrors were decorated with gold and platinum foil and the seat cover was made from silk, hand decorated in Kyoto yuzen style cherry blossom designs.
James Kent, international marketing manager for Kyoto Convention Bureau comments on the new addition to Hotel Granvia: “Adding the traditionally decorated Jet Ski to the lobby of the hotel is a move which will enhance the delegate experience and sets a benchmark for other venues across Kyoto. The beautifully designed machine will be a highlight for those who are having meetings at the property.”
Just as these craftspeople improved the Jet Ski with traditional craft methods, Hotel Granvia add to meetings and incentive events with their service and the rich history of Kyoto. A Hotel Granvia Kyoto spokesperson noted how “The Jet Ski is symbolic of how Kyoto adds value to meeting events in Japan. The display of the ancient heritage adds something special to summer 2012 meetings and events happening in July.”
The hotel has more than 1,000 museum quality pieces of art displayed throughout the property, enhancing meetings and events with the heritage of Kyoto.
