Lights, camera, action: Tourism Toronto plans incentive, meetings and conference event on Oxford Str

To celebrate the success of the Toronto Film Festival, Tourism Toronto is planning an event for meeting planners and incentive travel organisers on Thursday 1st November, 2013 at Paramount – the exclusive venue located on Level 31 of the Centre Point building, New Oxford Street.

Themed to reflect the Toronto Film Festival, the world’s largest public film festival, the conference, meetings and incentive industry focused evening will showcase all the city has to offer to these vital markets, including its 13 most prestigious hotels.  In particular it will highlight why Toronto is the ideal destination for business events and luxury incentive travel.

Julie Holmen, corporate sales director for Tourism Toronto, explains: “The UK is a key market for Toronto and this event gives us the perfect opportunity to meet buyers, highlight developments within the city and discuss plans for the future.  With the perfect balance of chic luxury and corporate attitude, Toronto is the ideal city for any event.  The Toronto Film Festival brings all the biggest stars from around the world to the city and we wanted to bring a little bit of that glamour with us on this trip to the UK.”

The event is particularly timely as “Designing 007 – Fifty years of Bond style” – the homage to James Bond currently exhibiting at the Barbican in London – will move to Toronto in October.  The exhibition will be available to meeting and conference organisers as a highly unusual backdrop to evening events, parties and receptions.  The exhibition will be opening on 26 October at the TIFF Lightbox venue in Toronto.

Toronto is one of North America’s most vibrant destinations for business travellers and was recently ranked as one of the world’s best cities for business, life and innovation. Tourism Toronto is the primary resource for meeting planners and convention organisers considering Toronto as their events destination, and can help identify products, services, and facilities which will ensure any meeting, conference or incentive trip is successful and memorable for delegates.

Mark Crawford, account director, corporate international at Tourism Toronto, says: “We wanted to create an event where those who attended could really get to know Toronto and what it offers as an business events destination.  With 13 luxury hotels, world leading conference facilities, beautiful landscapes and incredible activities, Toronto and the surrounding area are the perfect location for UK groups looking for a new destination for their business meetings and incentives.  This event will highlight what Toronto has to offer and educate guests on how easy it can be to organise events of any type. We look forward to seeing a range of buyers from the UK and invite them to find out how we can help them achieve outstanding events.”
