Members from the London City Selection will be celebrating their first birthday on the Visit London stand at International Confex, Earls Court, today. To mark the occasion they have announced plans for their 2011 experiential weekend and will be celebrating with birthday cake on stand number L100 at 2pm.
The marketing consortium, focused on developing relationships and increasing business within the City of London was launched on the second day of International Confex 2010. Since then the London City Selection has grown to 22 members and achieved more than £1million worth of new business through referrals between the members.
The LCS, which is a Barbican led initiative, has been chaired and driven forward during the last year by Samme Allen, business development manager at the Barbican. Commenting on their first anniversary she said: “Just over a year ago we saw a real opportunity to bring together various top quality venues within the City of London. There was immediate interest from 16 venues and we have gone from strength to strength ever since. In the course of the last year we have launched a website designed specifically for planners, added 6 new venues and made strategic partnerships with organisations such as the AIM accreditation scheme.”
To mark their first birthday the London City Selection is using the second day of International Confex 2011 to promote this year’s experiential weekend. Titled “A Twist of Fete” it will combine the traditions of an English country fete with the fast paced creativity and excitement of London. The event will take place during the weekend 15-17 July, 2011 and further information is available from LCS members at International Confex as well as on the website – www.londoncityselection.co.uk
London City Selection member, Ed Bolling general manager at Ironmongers’ Hall said: “The London City Selection has gone from strength to strength this year, it has been an incredibly exciting period for growth that has truly brought together the members. We are no longer competing against each other. Instead we are selling the City of London as a destination, working together and improving business for everyone involved.”
