London based Metro, one of the UK’s leading providers of audio visual, event and broadcast services became the first AV Company to receive the sustainable event certification award (BS8901).

BS8901 is the standard for sustainable management systems operated by an organisation delivering event related activities.

Tim Sunderland from Sustainable Event Certification, the independent organisation that provided Metro’s certification to BS8901, commented: “Metro is the first provider of audio visual, event and broadcast services that we have certified to BS8901.

The Team has worked incredibly hard to create an excellent management system that will sustain Metro’s success into the future.  With strong leadership and sound organisational values, Metro is spear-heading the way to improving sustainability in the events industry.”

BS8901 was triggered by the London 2012 Olympic Games which aim to be the most sustainable games ever. First launched in November 2007, the standard has been recently revised in the light of practical experience and organisations can now seek certification to the BS8901 – 2009 version.
