Metro Broadcast marks 30th anniversary through series of charitable good deeds

London based Metro, one of the UK’s leading providers of audio visual, event and broadcast services is celebrating its 30th anniversary by engaging in a series of philanthropic activities.

Of particular note is the fact that Metro recently helped Deloitte LLP raise £12,000 for Help For Heroes, Cancer Research and Children with Leukaemia. Metro has decided to undertake, “30 good deeds” aimed at making a difference to the lives of local people.  The philanthropic activities are spread across the year, many of which have been organised during this Christmas season.

Metro Broadcast’s managing director, Mary Metcalfe said: “It is a momentous year for us, and we wanted to celebrate 30 glorious years of our existence by making a difference. It gives us a great deal of satisfaction to be able to spread happiness in little ways by sharing our success. To achieve this we have been organising a number of charity events to help a cross section of society.”

In the run up to Christmas, some of the deeds included:

•    Cooking a meal at the Ronald McDonald House, which provides free “home away from home” accommodation at hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal life. •    Stamping and packing books at Book Aid International in their efforts to increase access to books to support literacy, education and development in Sub-Saharan Africa. •    Partnering with Starlight Stand to help fulfil the wishes of terminally ill children in all UK hospitals and hospices. •    Providing artwork for Waterloo Action Centre, who deliver advice on benefits, legal advice and organises events for elder people.

On a larger scale, Metro Broadcast recently helped Deloitte LLP employees due to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for their chosen charities by providing staging, lighting and design free of charge for a Strictly Come Dancing themed charity evening.

A senior procurement manager at Deloitte LLP said “Metro provided the staging and technical support for our Strictly Come Dancing event and delivered a fabulous evening. This undoubtedly helped us in raising £12,000 for our charity partners – a fantastic effort by all that were involved. Thank you Metro.”
