MPI UK and Ireland Chapter is pleased to announce Miguel Neves, VP of Finance, will this year be recognised by the MPI Recognising Industry Success and Excellence (RISE) Awards as Member of the Year.
Miguel will receive his award at the annual RISE Awards presentation and luncheon on July 22, 2013, during MPI’s World Education Congress (WEC) in Las Vegas.
Recipients are recognised for innovation, global transferability, impact and influence within the meeting and event industry. Miguel was chosen for his volunteer leadership and influential work on communications, marketing and social media initiatives for the MPI United Kingdom and Ireland Chapter. Miguel has also worked on the development of student‐focused initiatives such as the chapter’s Young Achievers Award and the Vanessa Cotton Memorial Scholarship.
Currently serving as the vice president of finance of the UK and Ireland Chapter, he also serves on MPI’s International Knowledge Advisory Council. He has been a member of MPI since 2007.
Miguel comments: “I feel very proud to receive the MPI Member of the Year RISE Award. In my short career in the meetings industry MPI has been instrumental in almost every aspect. I have made friends and valuable professional connections that I communicate with regularly. I have gained business and made strong partnerships with other MPI members worldwide. I have gained a great insight into the industry that I could not have done without MPI and the fantastic community that it holds. This award is a sign that I have also given back to MPI and in a small way helped move the association forward.
“For anyone thinking of joining MPI I would say go for it, with all your energy. I would encourage all members to volunteer their time at a chapter level, as this is a great way to learn about each chapter’s surrounding industry and where needed to cement your position in the industry. MPI membership and volunteering is a unique opportunity to have a community voice in the industry and with this comes commercial success, a strong professional network and a chance to acquire valuable industry knowledge.
Samme Allen, President of MPI UK and Ireland Chapter, says: “We are delighted that Miguel’s efforts have been recognised on a global scale. Miguel has been a great asset to the UK and Ireland chapter, having been instrumental in delivering key educational events and developing programmes for students, the future of MPI. We congratulate his achievements – he is a worthy recipient of the Member of the Year award.”
