Ottawa Tourism has welcomed the announcement that TD Place in Ottawa will host the Pacific Four Series women's rugby tournament this summer. The tournament, which will also benefit the city’s business events offering, will feature Canada, Australia, reigning world champions New Zealand and the United States.
The win demonstrates the city’s incredible event infrastructure as well as delivering legacy and benefits to the Canadian capital’s wider business events portfolio through the many other events that will run alongside the tournament.
“Winning a top-tier sporting event like this is incredible for Ottawa, but it’s about even more than the sport,” comments Lesley Mackay, Ottawa Tourism’s Vice President, Meeting and Major Events. “Alongside every major sporting event are receptions, hospitality, education and networking opportunities, which are vital to a city’s whole business events community, infrastructure and offering. Business events, tourism, and major sporting events work hand in hand to not just highlight everything a city has to offer, but to also demonstrate a city’s personality and passions, which is yet another reason we are so pleased with this win.”
The series kicks off on 8th July, when Canada will play against the New Zealand Black Ferns. In addition to the Pacific Four Series, Canada's U20 women's rugby team and the U18 Canada East Team will play matches in Ottawa during the event. The Canadian U20 team will play England on 8th July at TD Place.
