The Royal Television Society is returning to the Barbican. During 2012 the organisation will use Europe’s largest combined conference and
arts venue for a variety of events.
The RTS last used the Barbican for corporate events in September 2011. The decision to come back to the central London venue was made due to the variety of spaces it provides, the expertise provided by the team in facilitating successful events and the launch of its new corporate offering. The Barbican’s latest initiative – Barbican Business Events – will bring together the venue’s rich heritage and history in the performing arts and their professional expertise within the corporate events sector.
Barbican’s head of sales, Samme Allen: “The Royal Television Society’s decision to return to the Barbican is a major coup, and we’re pleased to be welcoming them back. This new business win is recognition of the Barbican team’s experience in making events such as those being organised by the RTS at the Barbican a success. It is a very exciting time for us following the launch of Barbican Events. All our clients, including the RTS, will benefit from the incorporation of the performing arts within the corporate environment. The initiative is central to our long term strategy in winning new business and it will give us a platform to help us build long term relationships with new and existing clients.”
Simon Albury, Chief Executive of the Royal Television Society, commented, “Before returning to the Barbican for 2012, we undertook an exhaustive review of alternative London venues and it became clear that the Barbican was the most cost effective for an event with the scale and technical requirements of the RTS Digital World Conference. We are also delighted that we can stage the RTS Student Television Awards again at the Barbican. Its requirements for small workshops and a smaller theatre are very different to those of our international conferences but the Barbican is able to match them.”
