UCAS, Morrow Communications and Shocklogic, win at inaugural ABPCO Excellence Awards

The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) held its inaugural Excellence Awards on Friday at OXO2, London. The Awards were a key part of the annual Chairman’s lunch, which brings together ABPCO members from both the supply and demand side of the industry.

The inaugural winners were: • Best conference by an in-house conference organiser – UCAS • Best conference by an agency conference organiser – Morrow Communications • Best supplier partner – Shocklogic

“Congratulations to not just the winners but also those shortlisted,” commented ABPCO Chair, Jennifer Jenkins. “Supporting a written award entry with a presentation to a large audience is a daunting experience and I want to thank all those who committed time and energy to this event. The whole awards have been a huge success, bringing the industry together to celebrate excellence and best practice. I am already looking forward to 2015.”

The shortlist was drawn up by a team of industry experts with the final winners chosen on the day through votes cast by the audience following presentations by each of the finalists.

“ABPCO have once again demonstrated their knowledge of the in-house PCO market through the creation of these awards,” said Phil Ross from UCAS, the winner of the best conference by an in-house conference organiser award. “Through their unique format we have been able to share best practice and learn from our colleagues whilst celebrating those individuals and organisations at the cutting edge of the industry.”

Jane Watson, events director from Morrow Communications – winner of the best conference by an agency conference organiser award said: “At a time when the role of the PCO and the challenges of Association events are under close scrutiny, these awards have created the perfect opportunity for the industry to come together and focus on our professionalism, expertise and knowledge. Winning today is a real accolade for Morrow Communications and our work on the International Business Women’s Conference 2014.”

“The awards were a superb idea and we just love the format,” commented John Martinez from Shocklogic, the winner of the best supplier partner award. “Rather than a faceless judging panel it was our peers who made the final decision, making this award all the more special because they truly understand the challenges we face to put together events such as the IFCPC, which we used as our case study today.”

ABPCO is the UK’s leading organisation for professional conference and event organisers, industry associates and those studying for, or seeking a career in the conference and meetings industry. For more information about ABPCO visit www.abpco.org
